Montgomery High School
Montgomery High School and its foodservice operator desired a college inspired dining environment for its students. They called on elite | studio e for its design/build experience in the K-12 sector, as well as its higher education portfolio.
The original space was a traditional school cafeteria. The equipment was antiquated, finishes and graphics outdated, and the food line was small and congested. elite|studio e’s creative designers transformed the space in its conceptional design featuring updated finishes, including stone at the pizza station, and throughout the café wood-finished laminate, new food guards and graphics.
In addition, our team proposed replacing much of the equipment. By bringing some of the production forward and installing smaller, better functioning equipment, elite | studio e could improve the space’s congestion, speed of service and menu offering.
Continuing our partnership with the operator, a design package presentation was created for the school district’s approval. The document highlighted aspects of the design, the menu and some information about the operator. Ultimately the design was set to move forward and it need to be ready to open for school in September 2019.
Montgomery High School students arrived on the first day to a café that features several stations offering pizza/Italian, deli and a rotating entrée every day. Creating stations in a high school café was just one nod to the college dining experience. In addition, the incorporation of some food forward dining components and more sophisticated finishes helped to meet the goals desired by the school district and operator.
